Exciting development as worker appointed to
help meet Government priorities
We are delighted to
be able to announce the appointment of our new Development
Officer, Fiona Mackay.
In recognition of
the Scottish Government's priorities for older people we have
appointed a new member of staff to help us to develop our service.
The Government acknowledges that by 2031 there will be an 85%
increase in the number of people living to 85 and over.
This has implications for services for older people and it is
essential that we are able to keep up with and meet this
challenge.
One of the other
issues is people's changing expectations of services.
40 years ago 60 was seen as old. This is no longer the case, and
what was an appropriate and acceptable service then is not
necessarily so now.
Dementia among the challenges
Among the challenges for Age Concern Glenrothes are:
- to make our
services relevant and available to fit, healthier people aged 60
and over
- to make our Scott
Road premises available to a wider range of people and
organisations
- to provide a
service for people with early onset dementia
Manager, Anne Toye, said “This is a really exciting time for us.
We have many new and exciting changes planned to support the
excellent work which our volunteers do ..”
Anyone interested in volunteering with Age Concern or in
attending one of the 12 centres or lunch clubs can contact them
on 01592 756316.
